Join us in San Diego, CA for this year's NASSP Annual Conference February 27, 2009 - March 1, 2009.  The theme is: For we dare not stand idly by.  Many adjustments and changes to the schedule have been made as the direct result of attendee feedback.  We believe you will be pleased with the changes and hope those changes will better accommodate your schedule.  Early registration is underway and will continue until November 14, 2008.  Those who register by this date are automatically entered to win free hotel accommodations for the duration of the conference.  As last year, discounts are available for school teams to attend.  For more information, visit www.nasspconvention.org

Congratulations to the NMASSP Assistant Principal and Principal of the Year! 

Kelly Callahan was selected as the NMASSP Principal of the Year.  Kelly is currently the principal at SIATech Charter School in Albuquerque. 

Amy Torres was selected as the NMASSP Assistant Principal of the Year.  Amy is currently an assistant principal at Rio Rancho Mid-High School. 

Kelly and Amy will be honored at a black tie event in Washington DC sponsored by MetLife and Virco.  They will also be recognized at the NMCSA luncheon during the annual convention in July.

Applications for the 2008-2009 Principal of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year programs are now available.  Application requirements include an application form, short essays on how the applicant fulfills the tenets of Breaking Ranks, and recommendation letters.  Please consider recommending a colleague for this honor.  State level winners will receive an award from NMASSP in the amount of $500.  There are also additional awards from the program sponsors and all state winners are invited to Washington D.C. for the awards ceremony.  For more information, visit www.principals.org and click on Awards and Recognition.

 

 

 

Breaking Ranks Training

NM now has eight people trained as Breaking Ranks II trainers and several trained as Breaking Ranks in the Middle trainers.  Beginning this summer, NMASSP will begin offering regional trainings in these publications in conjunction with the PED.  If you are interested in hosting a training, please email Regina Lane (contact information listed on the contacts page).
